UNIMIAMI underlines its commitment to Latin American youth at UN General Assembly

  • This meeting has strengthened the international collaboration network and positioned the university as a relevant actor in global dialogue spaces together with the International Youth Organisation (IYO).

UNIMIAMI is making an institutional visit to New York in the framework of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in which the International University of Miami underlined its commitment to young Ibero-Americans to offer them an online, accessible, inclusive and specialised education that meets the employment challenges facing the new generations.

The event "Youth for the FutureThe event was organised by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN's lead agency for international development, and was attended by UNIMIAMI's communications director, Elena Conesa, with a presence in 170 countries. This meeting has allowed us to strengthen our international collaboration network, exchange good practices in sustainable development and position the university as a relevant actor in global dialogue spaces. 

In addition, another meeting has taken place with the Secretary General of the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI)Mariano Jabonero and the Secretary General of the International Youth Organisation for Ibero-America (IYO)Alexander Pupo; as well as the president of the Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI)Nuria Villanova; focused on the enormous potential of Latin America and the importance of creating bridges between institutions and companies to respond to the new realities of the world. In this way, UNIMIAMI plans future initiatives to support education through OIJ.

"Our university is inspired by European academic excellence, American innovation and Latin American entrepreneurial energy, the university seeks to train global leaders prepared for the challenges of the 21st century," said the director of UNIMIAMI, Miguel Ángel Martí.

The international situation and the exponential increase in technology were some of the issues discussed with young people from different countries who shared their concerns and the educational needs of the new generations. In this sense, UNIMIAMI has exposed that it is a Al First Universitywhere the artificial intelligence is not just a toolbut the engine that personalises and optimises the whole educational experience.

"At UNIMIAMI we create a learning environment that transcends borders and fosters cultural exchange, ensuring that each member of our global community reaches their full potential as a responsible citizen in an interconnected world," concluded Martí.
