Bogota recognises EDUCA EDTECH Group's work in the social transformation of the city

The Secretariat of Government of Bogota has decorated Rafael García-ParradoCEO of EDUCA EDTECH Group, in recognition of his contribution to the #Bogotaneity through the programme "1,000 Shares in 1 Day. This initiative seeks to transform the city through citizen participation and the support of strategic allies, promoting values such as identity, inclusion and appropriation of public space.

The ceremony took place at a special breakfast hosted by EDUCA EDTECH Group Colombia together with the Government Secretariat. At the event, Bogotá's Secretary of Government, Gustavo Quintero Ardila, highlighted the importance of the programme stating that

"Bogotanos are not only those who are born in the city, but those who live in it and work for it. We set out to dream big to combat apathy". During the meeting, the impact of "1,000 in 1 Day" on the consolidation of a shared identity and the promotion of a more participatory and equitable Bogotá was highlighted.

One of the key moments of the event was the presentation of the video of EDUCA EDTECH Group brand manifestoentitled "Knowledge Needs No Place", which reinforces the fundamental role of education and innovation in social transformation. In addition, a formal invitation was extended to the Secretary of Government to participate in the Senior Public Administration Programme for GovernorsThe aim is to strengthen its training in public management and to establish new strategic alliances at the international level.

#Bogotaneidad and "1,000 in 1 Day": A model for citizen action

The "1,000 in 1 Day" programme has achieved a significant impact in the Colombian capital, mobilising thousands of citizens and businesses committed to the development of the city. Some of its main achievements include:

  • 1,335 activities carried out in a single day.
  • More from 18,000 citizens actively participating.
  • 133 allies strategic partners in the movement.
  • Priority intervention in locations such as San Cristóbal, Kennedy and Bosa.

The initiative has focused on five key axes for social transformation:

  1. ApathyPromotion of greater citizen participation.
  2. DiscriminationInclusion of ethnic communities and vulnerable groups.
  3. ViolencePrevention of domestic violence and bullying.
  4. Metro AttitudeTransport: Awareness-raising on the use and care of the transport system.
  5. Public spaceRecovery of common areas and strengthening of the sense of belonging.
